The goal of the Academically Talented program at Unionville Elementary School is to encourage students to discover, explore and achieve at their highest level of proficiency. Toward this end, curriculum is developed which fosters creative and critical thinking as well as problem solving skills. Those students identified as gifted learners meet in the A.T. classroom for approximately two hours a week in a technological rich environment. Although the curriculum doesn't change, the content and focus varies from year to year. Activities in the past have included: archeological exploration, web page construction, manipulative problem solving challenges, simple machine construction, history of the underground railroad movement, claymation, orienteering, the Stock Market Game, wonders of the world and independent creative projects. Gifted education at Unionville Elementary services more than forty-five students grades one through five.
