SERVICES
Less
known than our fundraisers and student-oriented activities,
but equally important, UEPTO provides a wide range of
services to the students, school and the community. Some of
these services take the form of monetary grants while others
require the dedicated efforts of our endless stream of
volunteers.
ADAC:
The Family Outreach Committee of the
Unionville-Chadds Ford School District is a
parent network committee that promotes healthy choices
and behaviors for all youth in our school district,
including social and emotional issues that students of
all ages face. UEPTO provides representation and active
participation for FOCUS. Beautification:
This
group of hard working parents plants flowers, trees and
shrubs, pulls weeds, and keeps Unionville Elementary's
yard looking bright and beautiful. Classroom
Subsidies: This
annual grant (presently $150.00) to all classroom and
special area teachers helps with supplies, non-curricular
books and other enrichment commodities. Community
Service: An
annual hat and mitten drive in the winter and a Halloween
canned food drive provide essential needs to the
community. A monetary contribution is also made to the
Middle School's annual bike drive, which helps local
needy children. Directory:
The
annual district-wide directory is produced entirely
through the efforts of the five Unionville-Chadds Ford
PTO's. Hospitality:
This
committee of parent volunteers provides refreshments at
monthly PTO meetings, and at several early-year parent
functions. Projects:
Annual
monetary grants are made to UE in three general areas:
the library for new books, the playground for new recess
equipment and the computer labs for technology hardware
and software. The Projects committee also allocates
year-end funds to teachers for various enrichment
projects. Publicity
& Memory Book:
As
a lasting memory of the school year, the PTO produces a
yearbook full of class and individual pictures and
pictures of our numerous activities. Our photographers
also submit articles and pictures for publication in
local newspapers. Teacher
Appreciation: Toward
the end of the school year, the PTO sponsors an
appreciation luncheon for all the teachers and staff of
Unionville Elementary. This meal is highlighted by
homemade side dishes and desserts contributed by
appreciative parents.
